Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring any equipment?

If you already have hand wraps or gloves, go ahead and bring them! However, we don't want to force anyone to go out and buy a set of $50 gloves if they're not sure they'll even like striking, so we keep a surplus on-hand for our members to use for free.

If you already know that you like boxing, we've got mouthguards, and personal gloves/wraps for sale in the gym as well.

Our Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is no-gi, meaning that you do not need to buy any special clothing or equipment, however a mouthguard is required in order to spar/roll.

Are your classes beginner-friendly?

Our advanced classes assume a certain level of conditioning and skill that not everyone who comes into the gym has right away. Those that already know how to box would likely be able to jump in right away, but for anyone just trying out boxing for the first time, it would be best to schedule an introductory lesson HERE to go over the basics of handwrapping, stance/posture, jab/cross/hook/uppercut, etc. beforehand.

Our Brazilian Jiu-jitsu classes are all beginner-friendly, with extra time and instruction given to new people to make sure they can master the movements as well.

Are you guys a sparring gym?

Yes, we encourage light sparring to help develop timing, reaction time, and defense difficult to develop with bagwork. However for safety reasons, beginners cannot spar on day-one, and their first sessions must be with an approved, experienced striker and/or instructor.

Do you guys teach kid's boxing/kickboxing?

We currently do not offer kid-specific kickboxing or boxing classes. Depending on your child's age and maturity, they may be able to join adult classes with a parent (usually 10-17 is okay). 1:1 instruction might work better for your child if they are younger, and if this is the case, please discuss this with the coaches prior to their first lesson.

What should I do if I can't make it to the normal class times?

1:1 lessons might be a better option for you. If this is the case, please speak with a coach to figure out a schedule.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer 1:1 brazilian jiu-jitsu lessons at this time.
